How to prioritise content requests and make informed decisions

Thursday 21 March 2024, 05:00 - 06:30 UTC, Stage 2

How to navigate numerous content requests in your inbox without feeling that you have to please everyone and burn your team out in the process.

In this session, we address a challenge frequently faced by content, digital, and communications teams: managing a high volume of requests for new and updated content. Often, this 'business as usual' content leads to a reactive, rushed, and frenzied work environment, resulting in poor-quality content, frustrated stakeholders, disappointed users, and a burnt-out team.

We'll set the context by outlining the typical scenarios these teams encounter, including examples of how a lack of process for handling content requests can negatively impact the team, users, and the organisation. The discussion will delve into the consequences of not having efficient techniques for receiving, organising, and managing requests.

The session will then introduce several practical techniques for prioritising content, aimed at bringing structure and process to the workflow. These methods will empower teams to make confident decisions about content management.

We'll explore how implementing these techniques can transform the content team from reactive receivers to proactive and confident owners of requests. The focus will be on creating a positive working scenario where the team can effectively handle daily requests without feeling overwhelmed.

Attendees will leave this session with actionable strategies to optimise content request management, fostering a more efficient, responsive, and strategic approach within their teams.
